The Vision:
The English department envisions to distinguish itself among its counterpart departments, whether inside or outside the country, in the scientific and academic fields itself for the future by applying international quality standards. Relying on the Academic Quality Guide issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, it embodies the academic professional culture among academics and employees, as well as observing the prospects for the betterment of all educational and research aspects.

The English department seeks in fulfillment of its mission to prepare highly qualified, efficient professionals who have the ability to promote the intellectual, cultural and educational level of female students by developing their linguistic, intellectual and research skills to meet the requirements of the labor market and provide outstanding graduates to serve and advance society and prepare female researchers capable of keeping pace with scientific progress through their education. The English department endeavors to lay the foundations of academic research, encourage dialogue, understanding and communication between cultures internally and externally, and keep pace with the changes of the times through the implementation of an integrated educational program that achieves quality standards and employs scientific and academic research as a basis for achieving the goals of community development in Iraq.
The Objectives:
- The paramount goal of the English department hinges on the continuous provision and development of a high quality educational program in the field of English language, methods of teaching and learning, exploring English literature, and studying linguistics in order to keep step with developments global.
- Contributing to upgrading female students’ awareness and deepening their scientific knowledge that helps them further cultural communication through identifying the best means and methods for learning and teaching the language and using it in practical life and scientific research.
-Creating a scientific cultural environment that enables female students to seize opportunities for self-development.
- Providing female students with practical experiences and enhancing critical thinking by training them and preparing them for community service.
- Developing the capabilities of female graduates to closely follow up recent updates in their field of specialty in order to develop them personally and enable them to compete in the labor market.
- Taking part in community service by organizing courses and workshops in the English language, teaching methods, literature, cultural studies, and translation, which contributes to building a positive knowledge society.
-Partaking in the ongoing development of the academic staff in the department and searching for means to further scientific research within the department in a way that serves scientific research both at home and abroad.
- Steady communication with female students to provide them with the necessary guidance in an effort by the department to respond to the needs of female students and closely follow their academic progress.
- Providing programs that are consistent with the department’s priorities in terms of the needs of female students, the university, and the local community.
- Ameliorating female students’ educational skills through lectures and extracurricular activities.

- Backing up faculty members to improve their academic and research performance and motivating them to contribute to knowledge production at the national and international levels.
- Encouraging faculty members to use modern methods supported by the use of modern technologies to improve the quality of educational outcomes.
- Providing and developing curricula to match the development and advancement of knowledge and the needs of the labor market.
